Mediation

Negotiation
with Less Stress
Mediation can be a highly effective, less stressful and inexpensive way to negotiate a divorce settlement. During the divorce mediation process both spouses meet with an impartial third person called a mediator. In the meeting, both parties discuss and resolve questions and issues related to the divorce. The mediator doesn’t make decisions for the spouses but instead helps facilitate a fair and reasonable solution for both parties.

Those having a divorce should strongly consider mediation as an option. Mediation works best in almost all divorces. Some of the benefits include:
  • Mediation is much less expensive than a court trial involving a series of hearings.
  • Mediation is private with no public record of what was discussed in the meeting.
  • Most mediations end in a settlement with all the concerns having been addressed.
  • You can still have a lawyer to give advice before, during or after the meeting if you wish.
  • You and your spouse decide on the details, not the court.
  • The mediation process may help you and your spouse communicate better to help avoid potential future issues.
  • Mediation allows you and your spouse to arrive at a resolution that you both find fair rather than a solution imposed upon you by an impersonal legal system.
